In this project we visualized the results of a 3 years longterm research, conducted by several research institutes but also private economy, mainly automotive industry and its suppliers. Our task was to find a pleasant way to present their multilayer results: The communication of an "Infobrooker Network" within global production processes, not just within companies but - and this was one of the main achievements of the research project - also between many different suppliers.

When we met the very first time with the RAN-team they showed us some of their attempts to visualize the Infobroker with Infographic design. Based on their idea to organize the information, the project was built up of three layers : information for management, practitioners and technicans. The sketch, we developed during the meeting, is based on the idea of a folder. Each time you unfold the paper, you get deeper in your understanding of the whole network.
Now you can follow us developing this folder from the very first sketches, to workshops where we discussed the special content with all clientside team members, to the final result:
After some days the RAN-team realized that in our first attempts the Infobroker was presented as a centralized power but instead of this visualization it is much more a federal combination of many different clients - so called "Repositories".
Since there were a lot of heads involved in the research project and even more conceptions of which information to give within the RAN-team, we decided to meet once more for a longer workshop to reconceptualize the sketch alltogether - and it was quite successful in our perspective.
Above you can see level one, designed for the management. It shows the advantages, you will gain by implementing the Infobroker in your production process.
On level two, the benefits, as well as the enablers of the Infobroker, are displayed. In order to achieve this, we embedded the benefits and its enablers into three use cases: the management of container shipping, the control of fresh supplies and the collaboration in a supply chain. The end results stick very close to the original sketch.
Level three is giving more detailed information about the technical aspects of the Infobroker. Our goal was to explain as much of those aspects in the mainchart, so we connected them to a scenery showing a production network.
Despite the main user of this system being the automotive industry, RAN requested to generalize the graphic, since the Infobroker can be applied to many different production processes.
